The article deals with the prologues to two translations of Ovidian Metamorphoses made by a single author, Francois Habert, who lived in the first half of XVIth century and was a member of king Henri II Valois’ court. According to the texts of prologues that contain different appeals to the monarch (some of them of moralising nature), it can be proposed that at the time of creation of the second translation Habert has already joined Catherine de Medicis’ circle fighting against Diane de Poitiers. That would possibly explain the change in the allegorical interpretations of some myths that are present in the prologues. Moreover, the article contains a brief analysis of the translation.
