Annotation

The article introduces to scholarship the hitherto undiscussed poem “Veniamin Ternovskiy” (1905) by Boris Sadovskoy, which was preserved in the private archive of M.A. Yakhontova, a Moscow philologist and memoir-writer, a native of Nizhny Novgorod. Drawing upon previously unpublished epistolary materials, the article attempts to reconstruct the factual background of the poem. Other works by Sadovskoy, having a bearing on the poem, are also taken into account.
