Collisions of (Post)Colonial World Order: «Irish War» and the «Crisis of Loyalty» in the British Empire
Annotation

In the article the collisions of the Versailles world order caused by contradictions between the right of the people for self-determination declared by victorious powers and aspiration of the European empires which survived after World War I to keep and strengthen colonial control are considered. Special attention is paid to how these collisions, provoking numerous “crises of loyalty” in empires, were perceived in the British army as one of the main colonial institutes of the empire. Attitude of the army’s representatives towards the “The Irish war” as the first most politically sensitive for London conflict of this sort during the first years after the war, in the light of the same problems in colonies and other dependent territories are in the focus of the research. Features of a transfer of the gained experience of counterguerrilla fight in the conditions of the seeming power and a deepening internal crisis of the British Empire in general are analyzed.
