The article is devoted to the investigation a matter of the Enlightenment’s cultural elements relations: early conservatism and early romanticism. As exemplified by J. Swift’s “A Modest Proposal…” the author analyzes a mean of understanding and presentation of social problems by conservative writers and concludes about subjectivistic basis of toryism.
