ASEAN has become an important trade partner to Russia since XX century. The total trade between ASEAN and Russia has grown up to US$ 19,9 billion in 2013, an increase of 10% from 2012. Russia - ASEAN’s cooperation is also being developed in the fields of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, food security, science and technology, among others. The article is focused on key trends and problems in trade exchange, concluding that Russia and ASEAN have potential for expanding economic and trade cooperation, including high technologies, chemical products, fuel, and energy sectors.
