Self-determination and self-perception of older people: results of focus group discussions
Annotation

The article has based on the results of focus group discussions, the purpose of which is to study and update the life position of representation of the older generation regarding their future and the future of Russia as a whole. The author analyzes the features of self-perception and self-determination at an older age, which are considered as the core element of identity. Particular emphasis is placed on the semantic features of the language in the discourse on older age, characteristic of both the representatives of this group and society as a whole. The author state the stigmatization of the older generation, endowing it with “defective” characteristics from the point of view of social and social values, is characteristic of modern Russian society.
