"POGONIA" AND "EZDETS": KINSHIP OR SIMILARITY? BALTO-SLAVIC PARALLELS IN THE MEDIEVAL EMBLEMATIС
Annotation
The article discusses the hypothesis of a possible borrowing of the emblem of Moscow princes, namely that of the rider, from a similar Lithuanian representation. The analysis of sphargistic and numismatic sources allows to conclude that the two traditions of representation are clearly distinct. It is probable that there was a parallel development of similar themes in a relatively uniform and broad emblematic context that did not exclude distinct and even differing variants.
