The article discusses some aspects of attitudes of European Union and Ukraine in 1992 ‒ 2014, which, in the author’s opinion, are still not reflected enough in the scientific literature. Those aspects are: preconditions, condition and the consequence of “European choice” of Ukraine, reaction to it in the EU, the formats of co-operation of the EU and Ukraine. The question is whether the features of Ukrainian euro-integration became the reason of the political crisis and demise of the Third Ukrainian republic. The author holds that European choice of the country could not become the reason for a deep crisis of attitudes in the triangle EU ‒ Ukraine ‒ Russia. The conclusion is drawn that the collision of objective imperatives of Ukraine’s development led to both crises ‒ internal and external.
