Annotation
The article analyzes the circumstances of the creation and work on the island of Capri (Italy) in 1909, the so-called “Capri School” – a joint political and ideological project of A.A. Bogdanov and A.M. Gorky. By the end of 1908, the ideological differences within the Bolshevik Party between the “practitioners” headed by Lenin and the group of “philosophers” led by Bogdanov living mostly in Italy became aggravated. A.M. Gorky in those months was actively supported by A.A. Bogdanov, believing that Leninist Marxism is the ideology of historical fatalism, while Bogdanov’s teaching (“empirio-monism”), on the contrary, is a “philosophy of activity” and the most promising one for the cultural education of the Russian proletariat.
