"World-wide responsiveness" or "Russian Europeanism"? (Vladimir Veidle on the work of Pushkin)
Annotation
The article is devoted to the evaluation of A.S. Pushkin, given by the largest Russian culturologist and philosopher Vladimir Vasilievich Veidle (1895-1979). In his emigre works, Veidle challenged the thesis of F.M. Dostoevsky's "world-wide responsiveness" of Pushkin's creativity, and, through a deep philosophical and cultural analysis, showed that Pushkin himself "decisively outlined the limits of his own all-irresponsibility," remaining a genius representative of "Russian Europeanism".
