Reality of the wave function and manipulative argument
Annotation
Ln the article, the author considers the problem of the reality of the wave function. The main approaches to the reality of unobservable objects of scientific theories and to the reality of the wave function are considered. Particular attention is focused on the manipulative argument proposed by J. Hacking and N. Cartwright in the framework of experimental realism. The strengths and weaknesses of this argument are explored by the example of quantum cryptography and quantum computer technologies, as well as experiments with a "delayed choice" and "quantum eraser". Despite the possibility to manipulate objects using the wave function, this is not a sufficient argument in favor of its reality. However, such manipulations can confirm the hypothesis that the wave function reflects a certain real internal structure of the quantum system.
