Annotation

The publication deals with the history of the Russian Far East in the 1920s and 1930s. It addresses issues concerning the establishment of Soviet power, the formation of public administration and that of the administrative and territorial division. It outlines the composition of the population and the number of people as well as the forms and methods of the government’s resettlement policy. It highlights the principal elements emerging from the socio-economic development of the region during the period of economic recovery and the implementation of the early five-year plans. It provides data on the nature and results of collectivization and industrialization. An estimate has been made of the nature of the political regime and governance. The key developments of international interaction are presented in it.
