Annotation
The object of research is the history of creation, publication and perception of Lenin's article “Party organization and party literature”. First of all, the authors analyze the main position of this work, their political and economic components. The reaction of the Russian literary environment to this program publication is also considered. In particular, the polemic speech of one of the leaders of Russian symbolism — Valery Bryusov is analyzed. It is demonstrated that the publication of the article "Party organization and party literature" is due to the split of the RSDLP at the II Congress in 1903 and the competition of its two factions of the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks. The authors of the study conclude that Lenin's polemic article as the leader of the Bolshevik faction has become a kind of ultimatum addressed to the Menshevist elite.
