World Revolutionary Wave of 1917—1923 and the Comintern
Annotation
The article is devoted to the rise of the revolutionary movement, perceived by some contemporaries as a possible beginning of the “world revolution”, as well as the attempts of the Communist international and the Soviet leadership to coordinate and support the revolutionary, left-wing radical and anti-imperialist movements. The expectations of the Communist leadership that the revolutionary process will develop in accordance with the Russian models did not materialize, but the Communist leaders responded flexibly to the situation without being embarrassed by violations of the canons of Marxism. As a result of the experience of the revolutionary upsurge 1917—1923, were formed contradictions, that define the policy of the Communist movement: between radical intransigence to the “bourgeois” political system and coalition policy; between social and national priorities; between the interests of the USSR and the new “world revolution”.
