The Influence of Russian Language on the Languages of the Indigenous People in Alaska
Annotation
The article looks at Russian religious borrowings in the Yupik language of the Eskimo people in Alaska as a manifestation of changes in the religious worldview of these indigenous people as a result of cross-cultural contacts with Russian Orthodox missionaries. The author describes the process of adopting new concepts and adjusting old concepts to new religious convictions.
