Soviet Specialists in Tropical Africa. 1960—1970's: Problems of Everyday Life
Annotation
This article is based on the documents of the federal archives and memoires of seven specialists from Yaroslavl, who had been working in Africa in 1960—1970s. Mostly they were school teachers and some were engineers from Yaroslavl local factories. Their trips to Tanzania, Guinea, Ghana and Mali generally lasted up to three years. The author analyses documents from two Russian federal archives — Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History and Russian State Archive of the Economy, dated 1954—1968 with the special regard to above mentioned countries and to Congo, UAR, Somali, Sudan, Togo and Ethiopia as well.
