This paper pursues the question of noticeably increased use of the world wide web for historical studies. It deals with such significant milestones as Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, large scale digitalization process and their results in a modern scholarship. This article also discuses some of the legal aspects of intervention of Humanities into the Internet according to the new items of the Russian educational legislation and problems of copyright law.
