The article is devoted to the study of general regularities and specific nature of the transition from traditional to industrial society in the USA at the turn of the ХỊХ-XXth centuries. The author analyzes important aspects of the transitional period, including sequences of stages of modernization, sources of industrial growth, degree of synchronization of economic, political and cultural changes and so on.
