Annotation
The article is devoted to the problem of the image of power in the state of Epirus first half of the thirteenth century. The analysis of images of the governor and his heavenly patrons, which are presented on coins, shows, that given images possessed the features. The specific character consists in a choice of two patrons, which symbolized dynastic (archangel Michael) and city (st. Demetrius) accessory. Considered images were, on the one hand, within the limits of tradition of imperial portrait XI–XII centuries, on the other hand – new compositions, which were presented on coins, based on traditions of local art.
