The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark (Danish Folk Church) represents one of the important state institutions, and it is governed by the Parliament and the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs. Even if Danish society is highly secularized, the programs of most political parties contain their positions on the future of the Folk Church. They mostly agree that the Church, being a significant part of the Danish national identity, is to keep its official status. At the same time, a possibility of state-church separation is being debated in the church circles, as well as among secular authors and politicians.
