The article studies the grass-roots, current situation and possibilities to put an end to the internal armed conflict in Colombia. Special attention is paid to the main actors of permanent violence – leftist guerrilla movements, extreme right paramilitary forces and governmental power structures. The paper includes detailed information about the evolution of the existing organizations – Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia and Ejército de la Liberación Nacional, the sources of their financial support and their transformation into the main responsible for terrorism. After studying the strategy of different governments, targeted for debilitation of the violence, the author comes to conclusion, that the armed conflict can’t be finished exclusively through the use of force, without the solution of provoking it severe social problems.
