The article deals with the history of the communities and organizations of Russian scholars of antiquity 1990es–2000es, such as ‘All-Russian Association for Scholars of Antiquity’ founded by Professor Elena Golubtsova in 1988. ‘Vestnik drevnei istorii’ (VDI, Russian Journal of Ancient History) remains the main journal for Russian scholars of antiquity. Grigory Bongard-Levin, the Member of Russian Academy, was its Editor-in-Chief from 1988 up to his death in 2008. His activities influenced on the studies of antiquity in Russia greatly.
