Technological Imperatives of the Modern World and the Role of Law
Annotation

A new forming “digital” reality causes a significant change in various areas of public life, social institutions and regulators. Law itself — as a means and tool for managing social processes — becomes the object of digitalization, which in result changes its forms, content, mechanism of formation and implementation. The large-scale use of information technologies and the digitalization of various spheres of social life also change a person’s idea of a changing world and his place in it. They change the mentality of the subject of law, his sense of justice and consequently, the nature of life.

Currently, there is a research that is carried out on the legal problems associated with the use of digital technologies, but it is too early to state that a clear understanding of these transformation patterns is formed. In this regard, interdisciplinary and comparative legal researches, as well as more active use of the methods of anthropology and sociology of law are of great importance.

Various changes in the social and legal existence of a person influenced by digital technologies have an impact on privacy, freedom of movement, intellectual property and the entire range of civil and political rights. One of the most urgent tasks is the protection of personal data and human dignity. The introduction of digital technologies in the electoral process and justice also requires a separate analysis by legal scholars. On the whole, a critical revision of the value orientations of modern law, enrichment of the normative-positivist approach with social, moral and cultural criteria and assessments of modern law’s operation are ahead.
