In October, Uzbekistan discussed the draft Concept of Socio-Economic Development until 2030, which envisaged the country's accession to the WTO and a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Union until 2021, and after that - and possible accession to it. Against the background of information about the republic's study of the risks and benefits of joining the EAEU, the US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross made a very deliberate statement that membership in the Union could complicate the road to the WTO for Uzbekistan. The author analyzed the arguments of the authors of the Concept and assessed how strongly Washington's position influenced its text.
