Julian Assange persecution as a reflection of Ecuador's financial dependence on the United States

Annotation

The article will analyzes the reasons that prevent Ecuador from pursuing its independent political course, the main of which is this country financial debt. In a similar situation are all Latin America countries, which fell into financial dependence from the very beginning of their independence in the XIX cent. In this regard, the Ecuadorian citizen and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange extradition can be seen at the global level - as the conflict aggravation between Washington and countries trying to pursue policies independent of its Northern neighbor, and at the regional level - as part of the ongoing polarization between the right and left Latin American governments. The latest political statements and steps analysis taken by the Ecuadorian authorities clearly demonstrates their withdrawal from the bloc of "socialism of the XXI cent". At the same time, last year Lenin Moreno government sharply increased the country's external debt, including through a loan from the IMF, putting Ecuador in an even more dependent position from the USA. Such Ecuador policy course can be considered in the context of a new "right turn" wave, determined by the fall in energy prices in the conditions of Latin American countries centuries-old debt dependence.
